*Lego Club‘s challenge for November 13th was to build a dinosaur in honor of Dinovember. Everyone made some awesome Lego creations and one young man took on the dinosaur challenge! The Raptor stayed on display throughout the month.
*We took Dinovember on the road and visited the Kids Matter Program on Tuesday, November 17th. After reading If the Dinosaurs Came Back by Bernard Most, the children discussed their favorite dinosaurs and what they might do if they had one for a pet. We spent the rest of the hour hatching a baby dinosaur to take home.
*The PCL was invited to participate in Cane Creek Elementary School’s Thanksgiving Cafe on November 18th and 19th. We were able to hand out information about library services to families in the community while they enjoyed a delicious meal.
*On November 20th, practicum students Heidi and Delaney led a turkey themed Read!Play!Grow! After reading the book 10 Fat Turkeys by Tony Johnston, parents and toddlers stood, stretched, and gobbled like a turkey during rhyme time! Check out the fun finger play gloves they made to help tell the story!
*To wrap up Dinovember in the library we had special Dino Story Time November 24th and 25th. We read several dinosaur stories such as, Dinosaurs Love Underpants by Claire Freedman, Linus the Vegetarian T.Rex by Robert Neubecker , and Saturday Night at the Dinosaur Stomp by Carol Diggory Shields, just to name a few! The children also had the opportunity to see and feel a real dinosaur fossil! After Story Time, the children came out to the library to create dinosaurs using paint and their hand prints!
Don’t miss out on upcoming events and activities at the Children’s Library!
