Eclipses Explained
The Putnam County Library will once again present “Eclipses Explained” this Saturday, August 19 at 10:30 a.m. This fun, educational program is appropriate for all ages. NASA certified experts, Dr. Mary Kidd and Dr. Stephen Robinson of TTU, will provide information to families about the total solar eclipse and the science behind why they happen. Attendees of this program will receive a free pair of eclipse viewing glasses. Supplies are limited.
Thanks to WCTE we will also have special guest Jet Propulsion from PBS Kids show Ready Jet Go!
Solar viewing glasses are provided by STAR_Net – a production of the Space Science Institute’s National Center for Interactive Learning in collaboration with the American Library Association, the Lunar and Planetary Institute, and the Afterschool Alliance. Major funding is provided by the National Science Foundation, NASA, and the National Institutes of Health.

Monterey Branch Quilt Club
The Quilt Club at the Monterey Branch Library offers quilters of all skill levels a chance to meet and encourage one another. Baxter Book Bunch
The Baxter Book Bunch will meet this Friday at 11:15 a.m. at the Baxter Branch Library to discuss When Mountains Move by Julie Cantrell. This event is open to the public. New attendees are welcome.
PCL Storytime
Celebrate the eclipse with Mrs. Donovan at Storytime this week. Stories will include Rosha and the Sun by Mary Jo Gerson, Papagayo by Gerald McDermott, and the Native Alaskan legend How Raven Brought Light to the People. Storytime at the Putnam County Library is held each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 10 a.m.
