Mr. Jerry Jacene and his assistant, Justin, visited with children and parents in the Children’s Library today as part of our on-going Summer Reading Program. Children were able to not only get an up-close view of real fossils, but also allowed to get their hands on some pretty neat items from the field. The highlight of the dino program was a full-size Tyrannosaurus Rex head replica. Young library patrons were able, and encouraged, to get their hands on this dino head. The Putnam County Library would like to thank Mr. Jerry Jacene for visiting our library and providing such an educational and entertaining program.
Jerry Jacene is the Field Director and Paleontologist for the Makoshika Dinosaur Museum (MDM) in Glendive, Montana and the director and Paleontologist for the Glen Rose Texas Dinosaur Track Site of Glen Rose Texas. Jerry also taught a field course on molding and casting in the Yun Nan province of China.
The 2013 Summer Reading Program, “Dig Into Reading”, is made possible by our sponsors: Putnam County Library Friends, Cookeville Arts Council, Cookeville Breakfast Rotary Club, Dr. Lisa Whiteaker, and the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. The children’s reading programs will remain open for registration throughout the duration of the program.
